The I-Search Paper in 1102?

I've been thinking that Macrorie's I-Search approach may work well for my 1102 writing-about-writing research assignment, but I'm torn about whether this sort of writing-to-learn method will be more beneficial to students than a more traditional/transactional genre like the conference paper.

Any ideas?

    I'm not sure what the I-search approach is, but you're usually doing cool stuff- i'd like to learn more.
